Elsie Vivian Hincks
March 1, 1926 - January 21, 2016
Elsie V. Hincks, 89, of Nampa, Idaho passed away January 21, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving daughters.
Elsie was born March 1, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Roy and Ada Cotten.
She met Boyd Hincks on a trip to Sand Point, Idaho, they married a couple years later in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They had 3 sons and 3 daughters. In 1963 they moved to Nampa. Elsie enjoyed fishing, camping, scrap-booking, making candy for friends & family at Christmas, Denver Broncos, poker, and all activities her grandchildren were involved in.
In 1983 she opened up her business Valley Tent & Canvas which she ran with her daughter Jody Peck. She continued to work full time until the age 87, then worked part time until December 2015.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Hincks and her sister Pearl Walker. She is survived by her brother Cale Cotten of Utah, Henry Hincks, Dianna Hincks, Dale Hincks, Scott Hincks, Jody Peck, and Pam Shriver all of Idaho. She has 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Elsie spent a lot of time with the grandchildren who lived close to her, Shane & Robby Claborn, Chelsea Peck, and Mason Shriver.
The last 3 years of her life she was well tended by her 3 daughters. They made sure she was able to enjoy many hours of shopping, spending time at Stolle Meadows, and vacations. Elsie was loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and customers.
Elsie was a kind and giving person, her last act of kindness was to give her body to medical research. There will be a memorial held for Elsie early summer in Grover Wyoming.
