Field E. Harris
February 9, 1917 - May 3, 2015
Field E. Harris died of natural causes Sunday morning May 3, 2015, and is awaiting his Lord's return. He was 98.
He was born February 9, 1917 to Olive Eide from Norway and Field (Phil) Harris in Seattle, Washington. At the age of 16 he joined the CCCs in Washington and then he joined the Marine Corps serving from 1934 to 1938. He spent time on the USS Indianapolis. In later years he was a mechanic working on engines from huge to small sizes for various companies such as McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and Standard Oil. After retiring he bought a truck and hauled mobile homes. After two accidents he decided to let the younger fellows do that kind of work and took up being a pilot car driver.
Field was married July 5, 1941 to Dawn Hunting of Santa Ana, California. They were married 57-1/2 years living in California. After her passing he moved to Caldwell, Idaho to be near his two daughters and their families.
He leaves behind his brother Marvin (Maria) Rudin of Palm Springs, CA; second cousin Gloria McKinley of Oak Harbor, Washington; his two daughters Susan (Jack) Robinson, Kathryn (Martin) Hamilton; three grandchildren Phillip (Lisa) Hamilton, Christi (James) Jarrett, Darren (Liz) Robinson, and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends in California and Idaho.
Cremation is under the direction of Idaho Cremation Society of Idaho. There will be a memorial service at the Caldwell Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2106 E. Linden, Caldwell ID, 3:00 pm, Saturday, June 27, 2015. There will be a reception following in the Friendship Hall. Internment will be at a later date.
The family would like to thank West Valley Medical Center, his physicians, the Veterans Administration, and Horizon Home Health/Hospice for their help and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Church Community Services.
