Francis William Mawson
Francis William Mawson passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 89 on May 16, 2017 in Nampa, Idaho.
Francis was born on August 9, 1927, to George William Mawson and Chloe Alberta Waters Mawson. He grew up with six siblings on the family farm in Ammon, Idaho. His siblings are Alberta,Merle,Lee,Verla Mae,Don and Gene. He met his sweetheart at the dance at Ririe, Idaho. They began dating and he married Pearl Danielson Mawson September 24, 1949. Francis and Pearl were the parents of Francis Dale Mawson (deceased); Susan Irene Robinson (Bob); James Doyle Mawson (deceased); Karla Jean Pratt (Glenn); and Daniel George Mawson (Lisa).
In his later life Francis was blessed to meet and marry a second loving companion, Susan Wintel Mawson,on August 21, 2010. Francis has become a loving patriarch and roll-model for her six children Anessa Pridgen Reed ( J,D. ); Frances Pridgen; Crystal Pridgen;Charles Pridgen (Ciera); Debbie Patten; and Amanda Pridgen.
From these two unions Francis' posterity numbered 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, as well as a numerous extended family of nieces and nephews. His list of great friends is innumerable.
Francis has always been a devoted husband and father who worked various jobs to support his family. He has always put in long, hard, often dirty days. His longest work was heavy equipment operator in an iron mine. He did find some time for hobbies. He loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, or do a little fishing or gardening, or just keeping in touch with friends and family in person or on the phone. He had a life-long passion for scouting and was very proud of his Silver Beaver Award for 25 years of service! Francis and Pearl served a
Mission for the LDS Church, serving in the Rapid City,South Dakota Mission, on the Standing
Rock Indian Reservation.
Francis' favorite hymn is "I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go, Dear Lord" and this title is also an excellent summary of his philosophy for life and his character. Funeral services will be held at

To 10:15 a.m. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m.
