Frederick "Fred" E. Scheuerer
July 8, 1929 - July 10, 2015
Fred was born in Plainview, Nebraska to John Scheuerer and Magdalene (Seyller) Scheuerer, the youngest of nine children. His younger years were spent working the family farm as well as haying and picking corn for neighboring farmers. He graduated from high school in 1946. After graduation, he stayed on the farm with his parents until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. When discharged from the service in 1955 he entered school at the University of Omaha graduating with an accounting degree in 1958. At a dance in Omaha in 1957, he met Donna Mae Ann Schmidt. She became the love of his life, and they were wed in 1958. To this union was born two sons, Richard and David. In 1959 they moved to Nampa, Idaho where he worked for several agribusinesses, retiring from J. R. Simplot. Fred enjoyed tending his garden and taking care of his cattle on his acreage. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, brother and nephews, and cutting firewood in the mountains. Fred and Donna still danced regularly until recently. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight of his siblings. Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years and his sister Marge of Iowa. He is also survived by his sons Richard and his wife Glenna and their children Thomas, Rachel and Luke; David and his wife Susan and their children Sheree, Kaylee and Allison. Fred also had two great grandchildren, Kenna Bodewig and Joshua Piszczek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a veterans or the Boise Rescue Mission.
A visitation will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm; a funeral service will be held in Fred's honor on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 11:00 am at Cloverdale Funeral Home; 1200 N. Cloverdale Road, Boise, ID 83713; followed by a graveside service at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow the graveside service at the Eagle's Lodge in Nampa, Idaho at 118 11th Avenue, Nampa, Idaho 83651.
