Gladys U. Carr
March 29, 1923 - January 21, 2015
Gladys U. Carr, 91, of Wilder went to be with the Lord and her family and husband Richard Carr January 21, 2015. Gladys was at Kindred Nursing in Caldwell, ID.
Graveside services will be at the Wilder cemetery Thursday, January 29th at 2 pm, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Pastor Ron Palermo of the Domes First Assembly of God Church, Caldwell, will officiate. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Gladys was born March 29, 1923 near Vinita, Oklahoma on a 160-acre farm her father received as Indian land. Mom was a registered Delaware Indian, she was very proud of her Indian heritage.
She had 4 brothers & 3 sisters. Gladys attended school through the 9th grade at Couch, OK.
When WWII broke out, Mom went to Tulsa, OK to work for the McDonald/Douglas aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter," working as a riveter in the fuselage of aircrafts used in WWII. She was very proud she had this opportunity to serve the United States in this way.
Mom held several jobs in the Wilder area, working in the fields for Bill Paulsen, the onion sheds, and completing her working career with Kits Manufacturing in Caldwell for 10 years. Mom worked hard to provide a good life for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she did well.
Mom married Richard Carr November 8, 1946; they made their home in Wilder, ID for over 50 years.
They raised 3 children, mostly in Wilder at 4th St & B Avenue. Our summer vacation was always trips to Oklahoma to visit family. This was Mom & Dad's favorite time to see their family.
Survivors are Sheri Walton, Homedale; Jim R & Cathy Carr, Nampa; grandchildren Ryan Carr (Nampa), Michelle Carr (Houston, TX), Aubrey & Bryan Martin (Boise), Kimberly Montes (Homedale); great-grandchildren, Timmothy Carr (Nampa), Cooper Pollard, Allison Pollard (Spring, TX), Rylee Carr (Nampa), Jeremiah, Nikkita, Dominick, Nathaniel Montes (Homedale), Madison Ogawa, Makenna, Joel, Chad Martin (Boise).
The family would like to thank the great staff at Kindred Nursing in Caldwell. You all were always so nice and accommodating to Mom's needs as well as the family when we visited. God bless you all.
