Gregory Len Giardina
September 26, 1955 - November 13, 2016
Gregory Len Giardina, 61-years old, died peacefully on Sunday, 13 November 2016 at his home in Caldwell, Idaho after a lengthy battle with cancer. His unwavering faith in God and the love of family and friends carried him through his final days. His entire family was by his side in the final hours. Born in Nampa, Idaho, and raised in Caldwell, Greg spent his entire life living in Caldwell. He was a 1973 graduate of Caldwell High School and attended the College of Idaho. He enjoyed a 43 year career as an entrepreneur. He learned the automotive business working for his grandfather "Jumbo" Godfrey and then owned and operated Godfreys Used Cars in Caldwell and Nampa.
He was an enthusiastic sportsman and athlete. Learning to bowl at an early age from his mother, Doris Giardina, grandfather, and grandmother, Rene Godfrey, Greg became an accomplished bowler. Like his mother and grandmother, Greg became an Idaho singles scratch champion and enjoyed bowling for most of his life. He was also an avid skier in his youth and later developed a passion for golfing and fishing. Greg was known for his love of the outdoors, incredible memory, quick wit, competitive nature, and his love of Jesus Christ. He traveled extensively, often combining his love of the outdoors with his compassionate, active love for his friends and people of Mazatlán, Mexico. He will be remembered as one of the most knowledgeable and interesting people you could ever meet.
Greg is survived by his loving partner and soul mate, Linda Jo Puffe; his four adult sons, Nicholas 'Nick', Vincent 'Vinnie', Paul and Luke; his adult daughter, Tiffany; his son, Shea; his brother, Tim; his step-brother, Darwin Maitland; and Linda Jo's family, Brianna Dill, Jeremy and Shanda DeGiorgio and their children, Daven, Kiegan and Cora Marie. He was their "Papa Gregidy".
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Giardina in 2014, his stepfather, Mate Maitland in 2015, and his father, Michael who lost his life in an aircraft accident in 1956.
A remembrance service and celebration of Greg's life will be held at the Caldwell Elks Lodge from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday 16 November. In lieu of flowers, donation information may be found at in Greg's wish to continue his efforts of impacting the community he cherished so much in Mazatlán, Mexico.
