Henry Madsen Jensen
January 15, 1926 - June 20, 2015
Henry Madsen Jensen, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 from complications associated with old age, he was 89 years old. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
Henry was born in Huntington, Utah in 1926 to George Jensen and Francis Mills, and grew up in Huntington, Gunnison, and Woodscross, UT. He enlisted in the Navy in March of 1943 and was assigned to the USS Childs, and a few months later the USS Half Moon, and took part in the Battle of Surigao Strait, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and the retaking of the Philippines in 1944. After World War II was over, Henry enlisted in the US Air Force to continue his service and is a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. He was stationed at many bases including Okinawa, Germany and France.
Following Henry's retirement from the Air Force during his last duty station in Mountain Home, he relocated to Caldwell with his wife, Marjorie, and worked at the Caldwell Post Office until retiring. He was a long time resident of Caldwell.
Henry had many hobbies which included gardening, harvesting walnuts, hunting, and fishing. He was friendly to all who knew him and was always willing to share produce from his garden. During his work at the post office he made many friends and his goal every day was to put a smile on the faces of those who he came in contact with.
He was a loving husband, dedicated father, and considerate man who provided help to others whenever possible. Many benefited from knowing him whether it was from receiving a sack of walnuts, a few tomatoes, or a joke to make them laugh. While his health had declined in the last year he still would have a smile on his face as he brightened other people's days.
Henry is survived by wife Marjorie of 51 years; children, Nancy Ann, Sherry, and Darrell; stepson, Randy; sister, Zada; brothers, Floyd, Earl, Ivan, and Rae. He was blessed with 19 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald and Lamont; and sisters, Ines, Ina, Vada, Uzona and Bessie.
Henry's wit, humor, and charm will be missed by all who knew him. We know Henry is now reunited with his family and friends on the other side and they are swapping fishing stories and telling jokes.
