Herbert Ray Montierth Jr
Herbert Ray Montierth Jr., 87 of Boise, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2017 at the home of his loving and devoted daughter Margo, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Herbert was born Feb. 7, 1930 in Safford, Arizona. He was the son of Herbert and Linnie Montierth, one of eight children. Herbert attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT as well as Albion State Normal School in Albion, ID. Herbert loved the open landscape and wilderness and it was said of him that "He could literally make the desert bloom." This great gift drew him into the field of land developing and farming. He found great success in his endeavors and utilized his talents to increase his business dealings.
Herbert was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various positions within the church. He was also a member of the FFA.
Herbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He married Darlene Roberts on July 20, 1949 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and they raised five children. All who knew him were aware that his family was his world and he considered them his greatest accomplishment. He had a cheerful nature and continually spoke of the happiness he had experienced in his life. His influence and example will forever be remembered and his legacy of devotion to those he loved will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Linnie Montierth; spouse Darlene Roberts Montierth; sisters Moneta Oates and Lorraine Whitmer; grandsons: Daniel Miller, Ryan Montierth and Regan Geddes.
