Jean Mary Gerdes
September 3, 1930 - July 25, 2015
Jean Mary Gerdes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to be with her Lord on July 25th, 2015 from Mesa, Arizona. A graveside service will be held at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell on Saturday, September 12 at 10:30 am, followed by a luncheon at Grace Lutheran Church, 2700 S. Kimball Ave.
Jean was born in Salt Lake City, UT to V.J. and Evelyn Martin. She was baptized into the Christian faith as an infant in Salt Lake City. She attended schools in Salt Lake, Portland, and Caldwell, where her family moved in 1943. She married the love of her life, Duane T. Gerdes, on June 1, 1947 in Caldwell. Duane and Jean owned and operated Duane's Heating and Cooling Service until their retirement in 1993. Jean had a deep love of music, reading, and photography.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Mary Gerdes of Phoenix, their children Aaron Gerdes (wife Anna Charbonneau) of Seattle and Kendall Gerdes of Austin (partner Erika Nunez), daughter Lisa Batt of Garden City, her children Jay Irby (wife Megan and son Olon) of Nampa, and Megan K. Irby (son Gavin Hardy) of Emmett, and brother and sister-in-law, Don and Joy Martin of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Duane, and her sister Lorraine Tewell. Memorials may be made in her name to the Fellowship Inc., P. O. Box 51510, Phoenix, AZ 85076.
