Jesus (Jesse) "Chuy" Ozuna
December 25, 1956 - December 15, 2014
Jesus (Jesse) "Chuy" Ozuna, 57, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.
Jesse was born December 25, 1956, in Florence, Arizona. He was one of thirteen children born to Jose Ozuna and Tomasa Lopez Ozuna. As a child of migrant farmworkers, he spent much of his early life between Texas and Idaho. In 1966, the family settled in Caldwell, Idaho, where he attended Caldwell schools. Jesse married Oralia Baldazo in May of 1974. Of this union, two children were born - Stephanie Nicole and Michael Jesse. Jesse worked for Crookham Seed Company and Amalgamated Sugar Company for many years, but his favorite job was seasonal firefighting. He reveled in the thrill and danger of fires and climbing mountains, but also enjoyed and loved the "calm after the storm" atop a tall mountain.
If there is one thing we can be sure of, it was that Jesse absolutely loved being "Grandpa Chuyito" to his five grandchildren - Michael Jaden, Marissa Renee, Isaac Andrew, Anthony Isaac, and Elida Rose. From taking them to "Mickey D's" to Jump Creek to driving around to relish the Christmas lights, he never passed up a chance to visit with them or take them on an "adventure." He often spoke of wanting to see all his grandchildren graduate, and he will, but now as their guardian angel.
Jesse is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Joseph) Archuleta; son, Michael Ozuna; grandchildren, Michael Ozuna, Marissa Ozuna, Isaac Archuleta, Anthony Ozuna, and Elida Archuleta; six sisters Maria Gonzales, Antonia Sauceda, Frances Echavarria, Gloria O. Ramirez, Nora Gonzalez, and Norma Gonzalez; three brothers Joel Ozuna, Noe Ozuna, Saul Ozuna; girlfriend Josefina Tijerina; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Tomasa Ozuna; two sisters Guadalupe Ozuna and Janie Ozuna; and brother Jorge Ozuna.
A viewing will be held Thursday evening, December 18, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary commencing at 7:00 p.m., at Flahiff Funeral Chapel. Mass will be held Friday morning, December 19, 2014, at 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Valley. Burial will follow at Middleton Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to
