Jim Raymond Doolittle
November 28, 1928 - February 2, 2015
Dad passed away February 2, 2015 at his home in Caldwell. He was born in Portland, OR to Ada and Edwin Doolittle on November 28, 1928 and raised in Boise, ID. Dad's family consisted of his mother, Ada, and siblings, Bruce, Corinne and Wally. As a single parent family during The Depression, they moved often and eventually settled on Warm Springs Ave. in Boise, ID. Dad graduated from Boise High School in 1947. He worked various jobs, including fueling airplanes at the old Strawberry Glenn airstrip (where he got some free flying time). He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in July of 1948 during the Korean War and received honorable discharge on July 1, 1952. Dad married Wanda Gene Nicholas of Fort Worth, TX on August 18, 1952. Dad took advantage of the GI Bill to attend Boise Junior College, The University of Idaho and Baylor University where he completed an accelerated law school program in only 27 months. Dad was grateful to Baylor University for loaning him funds for completion of his last semester after his GI Bill expired. He was a lifelong contributor to the University. Dad and Mom moved back to Idaho and raised five children, mostly in the Caldwell area. Dad practiced law for 15 years and in May of 1977 was appointed as a District Judge of the Third Judicial District, a position he held until his retirement in December of 1993. Our Mom passed away in 1990. Dad married Lynn Martin on February 9, 2001. During his life, Dad enjoyed bird hunting, camping, motorcycles, billiards and most of all FISHING!
Dad is pre-deceased by his mother, Ada, siblings, Bruce, Corinne and Wally; his wife Gene, daughter, Anna Lucinda and grandson, Robert Dyas Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn, daughter, Rebecca (Scott) Smith, son, Brantley (Suzanne) Doolittle, daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Nowland, daughter Shawn Judd, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grandchildren.
