Kenneth D. Casper
August 13, 1928 - October 14, 2016
Ken Casper, 88, of Nampa, passed away peacefully at home Friday, October 14, 2016. He was born August 13, 1928 in Emmett, Idaho to David and Gladys Casper.
Ken graduated from Nampa High School in 1946 and was a member of the marching band. His love and gift of music has always been an important part of his life. Ken had an unusual talent to be able to pick up all types of musical instruments and play them by ear. His forte though, was his clarinet which he played with a rich, warm beautiful vibrato. Ken delighted many of his musician friends that he could pick up his clarinet and just play together with them and harmonize.
Ken had a deep love for his father in law, Henry Schober, along with many family members and friends. His quick wit and enjoyment of people made him fun to be around.
Ken enjoyed working with his hands at several vocations during his lifetime. He was a farmer south of Nampa for over 25 years, developing many of the farmlands from sage brush. He also enjoyed working at new home construction, and mining in the hills of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
Ken met his life-long sweetheart Lois at church during his high school years, and was very proud of their 69 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Lois, their son Ron Casper, daughter Sue Hazen, brother Arden Casper, his seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Ken's life and home going on Saturday, November 5, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 4152 E. Amity Rd., Nampa, Idaho 83687. In honor of Ken, memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Community Church.
