Kent J. Marcusen
June 13, 1958 - April 27, 2016
Boise resident, Kent Joseph Marcusen, 57, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2016 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 13, 1958 to Dr. Joseph B. Marcusen and Berthamarie "Murphy" Marcusen in Nampa, Idaho. He attended Nampa schools, graduating from Nampa Senior High in 1976. He then attended University of Utah, majoring in Marketing and Public Relations. While in college, Kent enjoyed affiliation with Sigma Nu fraternity where he made life-long friends. He participated in Rugby and brought this passion back to Boise, when he returned to Idaho in 1981, after college graduation.
Kent began his life-long career as a financial advisor with Birr Wilson in 1981. He worked nearly 35 years in the financial industry, his last 8 years with Wells Fargo Advisors, where he was trusted and admired by both clients and co-workers. He married Shawna Simms of Salmon, Idaho in 1985. They were divorced in 2000. Kent spent the last 15 years of his life with his best friend and soulmate Betty Clark, formerly of Jerome, Idaho. They enjoyed outdoor activities, particularly time spent in McCall with their loving dogs.
Kent was preceded in death by his father in 2002, and his faithful dog, "Hannah". He is survived by his mother "Murphy" Marcusen, his fiancée Betty Clark, sister and brother-in-law Kerney and Karl Malo of Portland, Oregon, and sisters Karen "K.C." Marcusen of Boise & Seattle and Kimberley Boyd of Salt Lake City. Kent will also be dearly missed by 5 nieces & nephews.
The Marcusen family will be hosting a celebration of Kent's wonderful life on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Hillcrest Country Club of Boise, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. It is hoped that Kent's extended family, friends, clients and co-workers will join us in tribute.
In lieu of flowers, and to honor Kent's love of animals, please make donations to the Humane Society of Boise or McPaws of McCall, Idaho.
