LaMont Wesley Jensen
LaMont Wesley Jensen, 82, of Nampa, died March 27, 2017 in Boise of natural causes. He was born the eldest son of Emery and Thelma (Willyerd) Jensen in Roberts, Idaho. He lived in eastern Idaho most of his childhood until moving to Nampa in his freshman year of high school. There he met his wife of 60 years, Marlene Wadsworth, and they were married in November of 1954. After their three children were born, they moved to Boise and lived there for over 40 years before moving back to Nampa.
As a young man he loved horses and eventually sold his horse and bought a motorcycle. He traded the thrill of competing in rodeos to the competition of climbing a hill on a motorcycle. He always rode a Harley Davidson and was heartbroken when a stroke forced him to give up riding. He was a good bowler with a high average and was passionate about his golf game.
LaMont worked for the railroad as a young man and always said that he should have stayed at that job. He drove long-haul truck around the country when the kids were young but spent the majority of his career at Garrett Freight Lines working for Firestone Tire. For a time he was an Ada County Sheriff, on a Harley, of course. In 1970, he and his partner Bob Meinburg purchased Boise Harley Davidson and kept it afloat during the difficult years of Harley Davidson. They sold the shop in 1983 as Harley Davidson was becoming successful again. He ended his career as an electrician at the Boise School District. He and Marlene set up at craft shows for many years where she sold her creations and he sharpened knives.
LaMont is survived by his children, LaMar (Yunhui) Jensen, Puyallup, WA, Steve Jensen, Boise, and Shirley (Doug) Osborn, Boise, eight granddaughters, sisters Dwenna Gaisford and Deanna Moser, and brother Wayne Jensen. He is preceded in death by his wife Marlene, his parents, brothers Leondus and Jay Dell, and two grandsons, Spencer and Chandler Osborn.
A luncheon will be held to celebrate LaMont's life on Saturday, April 15, 11:30am - 1:30pm at the Silvercrest Estates II Clubhouse, 1100 Burnett Drive, Nampa, Idaho.
