Lee Paul Welsh
Lee Paul Welsh, 74, of Nampa passed away 23 June 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born 9 October 1940 in Homestead, Allegheny, Pennsylvania to Thomas Francis and Bertha Fern Foy Welsh. He spent two years in the Air Force at Mountain Home. While there he married Dorothy Wissel; they had two children together and were later divorced. On January 26, 1973 he married Wanda Farnworth Parris in Caldwell, Idaho and Lee gained another daughter.
Lee worked for Sears, Union Pacific Railroad, Armour's Packing Company and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in November of 2000.
Lee loved to read history books about the areas around the Northwest, biographies and other non-fiction books. He enjoyed camping and hunting and riding his four-wheeler, but he especially loved to fish. He spent many weekends, in the summer, at Brownlee Reservoir with his motor home and boat. If the ramps were too low in the water at Brownlee, the choice of CJ Strike Reservoir was a close to home second choice. Thank you to his brothers, son and friends that spent this last spring and summer going fishing with Lee. It made his struggle so much less.
Foremost he enjoyed spending time playing with the grandchildren: Amanda, Kati, Taylor, Erika, Eric and Madeline, while they were growing up, and most recently he enjoyed the six great-grandchildren: Charles, Jackson, Henry, Kieran, Behckam and Ayla.
After retirement, he took up the new hobby of woodworking. He made all of his children, siblings, grandkids, nieces, nephews and several friends beautiful boxes out of mixed woods. He also enjoyed making picture mats and frames. He made many frames for friends just for the joy of making them and giving them away. His last endeavor was making candle holders for many family members.
Lee is survived by his wife Wanda; children: Tracy (Mark) Lytle, Kimarie (James) Andrews and Shawn (Cindy) Welsh; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister and two brothers: Cheryl (Henry) Makarewicz, Thomas (Laura) Welsh and Patrick (Mary) Welsh; and many nieces and nephews which were all very dear to him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank all those at MSTI for their kindness and support of Lee during his illness and the great team for Horizon Hospice. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nampa's Mountain States Tumor Institute, 308 E. Hawaii Ave, Nampa, ID 83686
