Leslie Guy Paulin
May 12, 1937 - January 24, 2017
Leslie Guy (Les) Paulin, age 79, of Meridian, Idaho, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 of cancer at the Boise VA Community Living Center hospice.
Les was born May 12, 1937, on the family farm near Meridian, Idaho. He was the seventh of thirteen children born to Henry and Margret Paulin. His upbringing shaped his character, instilling in him a deep faith, integrity and a lively sense of humor, as well as a lifelong love of the land and farming.
In 1958 Les married Wanda Nellie McCormick, and after completing his military service in Alaska, returned to Meridian Idaho. He served as an Idaho State Patrolman then later bought and ran a milk route, but it was his desire to raise his family on a farm which ultimately led him to buy a farm near Kuna, Idaho where he and Wanda raised their children: Wendy, Andrew, Liandra and Benjamin. Les later worked for the City of Boise Public Works department, starting out as a truck driver and progressing to farm and application manager before retiring in 1999. After retiring from the city, Les and Wanda moved to their cabin in Centerville where they lived until Wanda became ill. Les brought her back to the Boise area to care for her while she battled cancer. After her death in 2005 he continued to love her and cherish her memory, ultimately returning to live in small home in Meridian only a few miles from the farm where he was born.
Surviving Les are his siblings: Dorothy Murphy, Francis Bishop, Carol (John) Coombs, John (Andrea) Paulin, Jim (Gloria) Paulin and Joy Schuck; and his children: Wendy (Steve) Green, Andrew (Kathy) Paulin, Liandra (Tim) Harger and Ben Paulin; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Les Paulin would like to thank the doctors and staff at Saint Alphonsus Hospital and the hospice unit at the VA Community Living Center in Boise for their excellent care in the final weeks of his life.
Les once described his father as "the best man I ever knew." And now as we try to describe Les we are unable to adequately tell you of the stature of the man, his honesty and integrity, his humor and compassion, his quiet faith; we can only echo his own words: "Best man I ever knew."
