Maria "Dolores" Vieira
1926 - 2017
Dolores Maria Vieira, age 91, of Caldwell, passed away March 23, 2017 from a nine month battle with cancer. She died at her home in Caldwell, ID surrounded by her family.
Dolores was born in Bernalillo, New Mexico, to Jose & Lugordita Sena. She was one of nine children.
Dolores was an avid bowler, at 90 years old she was on two bowling leagues at Caldwell Bowl. Yes, her husband was the love of her life, but bowling and her bowling friends were right up there! She was lovingly known as the "Cake Lady". She was in charge of notifying fellow bowlers when to bring a cakes for monthly birthday celebrations. She would always remind them to bring quarters for the fun side card game, where you could win for strikes and spares. Even though Dolores never played golf, she loved watching it. She could tell you all about the players, tournaments and she would read their stats in the newspaper. She also won at cards on a regular basis with everyone she played. She was a gambler! She did lead a joyful happy fun life which showed on her face and showed in the many friends, neighbors and acquaintances that crossed her path. We were all fortunate to have her in all of our lives.
Dolores met the love of her life, Marion on a blind date over 70 years ago. They have been inseparable ever since. Together they raised four children in California, where Dolores worked at home making a wonderful happy place for her family. She was the most loving mother, we couldn't have asked for any better. She was always there to listen, she will be truly missed.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband Marion Vieira, daughters: Lin Vieira, Annette Schaefer (Jeff Pfeiler) and Bernadette (Ron) Murray. Her grandchildren: Christian Moretti, Danny (Jaime) Moretti, Branlin Schaefer, Molly Vieira, Jeremiah (Molly's) Fountain, Wren Schaefer, Breanne Murray and Grant Murray, great-grandchildren: Nate and Ryan Moretti, Aiden and Maya Moretti, Oliver Vieira Fountain, her brothers: Conrad Sena and Joe Sena and sister Rose Hosta, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was very blessed with a big family. She was preceded by her son Oliver Vieira, her parents, sisters: Sofie Montoya, Mena Keller and brothers: Clore Sena, Sam Sena and Charlie Sena.
Special thank you to Ingrid Rose for always being there to help when family wasn't available. Many thanks to such wonderful friends, hospice family, Cynthia, Emily, Janey and Branden and the caregiving family, Jennifer, Diem, Patty and Brandy. We don't know what we would have done without all of your help and love through this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Caldwell. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Please in lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Al's Nampa Health Foundation, 1512 12th Ave Rd, Nampa, ID, 83686. Condolences given at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com.
