MaryLou Shupe Reddish
MaryLou Shupe Reddish, 77, of Nampa passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, October 26, 2015. She was born January 2, 1938 to Cyril John and Victoria Josephine Cazajous Shupe in Burns, Oregon. She was the youngest of two daughters. Her family moved several times throughout her early childhood until they settled in Jerome, Idaho where she graduated from Jerome High School. She went on to graduate from ISU with a B.A. in Physical Education and a minor in History. During her years there she met the love of her life Arnold Edward Reddish. Ed and MaryLou were married on August 6, 1959 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple with the promise of Eternity together. The first few years of married life they relocated to various places. In 1967 they settled and made their home in Nampa. Together they raised their three children: Denise (Jay) Reiss, Kevin (Adete) Reddish and Lance (Terra) Reddish.
MaryLou's pride and joy were her family. In addition to her three children she was blessed with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with a third due in December. To MaryLou any day spent with her children and grandchildren was a great day. She loved having her family around her and hearing her grandchildren's laughter and sweet voices and sincerely took interest in how each of them were doing. Prior to her health limiting her mobility she was blessed to be able to travel and vacation with her family. Some of the most cherished vacation memories include our family Disney trips, the Oregon Coast, weekends in Stanley and our annual family week in McCall.
MaryLou was a breast cancer survivor of 22 years. The past several years have been spent being an amazing example to all who knew her of perseverance and enduring to the end. She greeted everyone with a smile in spite of tremendous amounts of pain and limited mobility due to other health conditions.
MaryLou was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she served in various capacities in the church and blessed the lives of those she served. The years she spent working in the Boise LDS Temple were her favorite and she worked diligently and faithfully until her body would no longer allow her to do so. In thoughts left to her family she stated, "I am thankful for the knowledge we have of life's plan so that we can understand death instead of fearing it."
MaryLou is survived by her loving husband of 56 years; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Joan Shupe (Lewis) Burgess; her mother and father-in-law Eva Rose Nielson and Arnold Earnest Reddish; her brother-in-law Robert Duane Reddish, and several other dear extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at the LDS chapel located at 927 Ruth Lane in Nampa.
