Mathew "Matt" Townley
1976 - 2015
Mathew "Matt" L. Townley, 39, of Boise, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 7th, 2015.
Mathew entered this world on January 4th, 1976, in New London, CT, to the joy of his parents, Lyndia and Lowell Townley and his older brother Troy. The family moved back to Boise in 1977 to build their home amongst their family and friends. Mathew was blessed with a sister, Andrea, that same year. No one had a more devoted, loving sister than Mathew. She was his Lord Protector, gofer, and best bud throughout his life.
Mathew was diagnosed with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy in 1978. His parents were told that his life expectancy was age 12. As many of his doctors can attest, the folks making this prognosis did not know Mathew nor his drive for life.
Mathew attended Silver Sage and Amity Elementary Schools and West Junior High School and graduated from Borah High School in 1995.
Mathew went to the MDA camp for many years, usually accompanied by his older brother Troy as his counselor. They had many good times together and shared their stories of activities, spills, bumps and scrapes with all of us.
Mathew will be lovingly missed by his parents, Lowell and Lyndia Townley; brother, Troy (Tina) Townley, their son, Nathan; sister, Andrea (Isaac) Howard, their children, Jillian and Nicholas; grandmother, Phyllis Townley; grandparents, Harold and Velma Wageman; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends across the United States and in several foreign countries.
A Celebration of Mathew's Life will be held on Sunday, the 18th of January at the Maple Grove Grange Hall, 11692 West President Drive, Boise, ID 83713, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. All are welcome to join us for refreshments and to share our memories.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to , The Shriners Children Hospital, or your favored charity. Questions can be directed to his family. Special thanks to Mathew's doctors and caregivers.
