Michael Wells "Bud" Zarbnisky
September 10, 1939 - March 31, 2016
Michael Wells "Bud" Zarbnisky, of Marsing, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 after a courageous battle with numerous illnesses. He was 76 years old.
Bud was born Sept. 10, 1939 in Nampa, Idaho, to Vincent and Margaret Zarbnisky. He graduated from Nampa High in 1957 after excelling in football, basketball, baseball and track. He pitched a no- hit no-run game against the Boise Braves. Bud received offers from 2 professional baseball teams but decided to play football for Lyle Smith at Boise Junior College and played on Boise State's 1958 Championship team.
After leaving BJC, Bud worked for the Ada County Sheriff's Department as a narcotics detective and later became a detective for Union Pacific Railroad. He later moved to engine service and became an engineer until he retired.
Bud and his wife, Sharon, moved to Marsing where he volunteered with the Marsing Gun Club. He was always involved with raising money for charities both in Pocatello and Marsing. He loved trap shooting and was one of two people in creating the Pocatello Gun Shoot. His special meals for all the trap clubs were well known all over Idaho.
Bud was an avid fisherman and hunter and treasured his trips to Council, Idaho. There were many hunting and fishing trips with son, Mike, and fishing fanatic daughter, Wendy. He continued with grandson, Travis Munson with memorable trips to Dubois, Idaho. His great grandsons, Austin and Peyton, then became Bud's hunting buddies along with dad, Travis. He has also encouraged his granddaughter, Niki and her husband, Kirtis, to involve their 4 boys in shooting, fishing, and hunting, which they are doing.
Bud is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Wendy (Phil) Pelch and son, Mike Zarbnisky; brother Ron Zarbnisky; 3 grandchildren, Travis (Julie) Munson, Denise Munson, and Niki (Kirtis) Blanchard; and 8 great-grandchildren Austin, Peyton, Mylie, Zachary, Blake, Josh, Mike and Olivia.
His family was the light of his life and he loved each and every one. A special thank you to his Boise State buddies Lyle Smith, Jerry Mahoney, Lenny Chow, Jim Lynch and Michel Bourgeau for all of your support.
There will be a Celebration of Bud's Life at the Caba Restaurant and Pour House on Saturday, April 16, 2016 between 2:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.
