Nadine Rose Miller
April 18, 1924 - May 14, 2015
Nadine was born on April 18, 1924 in Blackfoot, Idaho. She was the eldest of two daughters, born to Harold and Rosa (Hitchcock) Mutch. Her father worked for the Bureau of Reclamation and the family relocated frequently throughout the west and southwest. She graduated from Tucumcari High School in Tucumcari, New Mexico in 1942. Then she moved to Los Angeles to attend Woodbury College. Before she began her sophomore year the school was closed due to WWII. She stayed in Southern California working in the home interior department of Barker Bros. Dept. Store. Her sister, Pat, moved to Los Angeles after her high School graduation. Both girls enrolled in UCLA. After attending for a year they realized that it would be easier financially if they transferred to the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Nadine graduated from UNM in 1947, by then her parents had relocated to Wolf Point, Montana. While visiting her parents there, she met her future husband, Merle A. Miller. They were married in Poplar, MT on November 9, 1947.
After an extensive road trip throughout the West, Merle and Nadine decided to settle in Boise, ID. Merle started a bookkeeping service and Nadine used her experience at Barker Bros to start a custom drapery business which she operated for over 25 years.
Merle passed away in 1969. Nadine sold her drapery business in the 1970's and later became a partner in her son's company, Larson Miller Medical Waste Disposal Service.
She travelled extensively with trips to Europe, S. America, Asia, and Africa. She enjoyed reading and was a lifelong learner, researching any subject that piqued her interest. She was involved with the founding of Stage Coach Theatre, a member of Zonta Intl., Colonial Dames, and the Mayflower Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Miller; and her sister, Patricia Cheeseman. She is survived by her son, Mark Miller (Lorraine Mullett), Nampa; daughter, Cathy Whitlock (Michael), Boise; grandson, Harold Miller (Kelda), Nampa; granddaughter, Brodi Whitlock (Curtis Thaden), Boise; grandson, Robert Miller (Tiffany), Boise; and great grandchildren, Alec and Riley Miller, Nampa.
Private services are planned. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Nadine's memorial webpage at www.summersfuneral.com.
