Norma Parvin Walker
July 10, 1919 - April 6, 2016
Norma Parvin Walker, 96, formally of Homedale and Nampa completed her earthly journey April 6, 2016 at Bristol Tennessee. Norma was born at Shoshone, Idaho July 10, 1919. Preceding her in death was her husband of 48 years, Oliver Walker, parents Orvia (Bud) and Louie Alice Parvin, brothers Russel and Charles Parvin.
Norma is missed by her daughter Shirley Walker Hill of Bristol, TN and son Michael Walker, his wife Marty, grandsons Nathan, Christopher and Kerry of WA State, grandchildren Kay Hill of Memphis, TN, Ian Hill, his wife Sandra and great grandchildren Wyatt, Connor and Emma Hill of Franklin, Tennessee. In addition there are a number of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
An active community member, a woman of strong opinion, Norma generously enjoyed helping others through charities and volunteered with 4-H clubs, Jobs Daughters, and PTA. Norma was employed as a dental assistant, veterinary assistant and as coordinator of Owyhee County Senior Centers.
During retirement, Norma compiled books entitled Homedale Hodgepodge, Homedale Scenes Revisited, Brant and Company, Parvin's Travels, The Walker Chronicles and It Seems like Yesterday. Norma was a long-time member of the Wilder United Methodist as well as the Nampa and Sumner, WA Methodist Churches.
Honorary Pall Bearers are surviving members of the Homedale High School Class of 1937. A Graveside service will be held the Homedale-Marsing Cemetery Wednesday April 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a gathering at the Homedale Senior Center. Pastor John Watts of Nampa will officiate. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Wilder or Nampa Methodist Church or to a charity of the giver's choice.
