Penny Pearse
On Thursday June 9th, 2016 our mother, Nan Penelope (Penny) Pearse, passed away from throat cancer at home surrounded by family and loving puppies. We are sad that she is gone but relieved that her painful journey has ended and know that she is in a better place, somewhere over the rainbow.
Penny was born and grew up in a small town in Kansas, graduating from K-State in Home Economics. She was an amazing cook and had her own cooking show before turning her energy to starting the Home Economics Related Occupations (HERO) program at Nampa High School where she taught for many years before retiring early to take care of her mother. Along the way she married Tom, had twins Tory and Troy, volunteered for the POW-MIA group, was active in her church and later divorced. Penny taught her children to love the outdoors and we spent many happy hours out camping, fishing, water-skiing, and did we mention fishing?
Although retired from teaching high school, Penny continued to teach us all about courage, strength, patience and to not be afraid to try something new. In her later years Penny was home-bound because of her burdened body but in preparing for passing she shared some of her secret adventures including going on safari in the wilds of Africa and deep sea fishing in Mexico. Clearly she had a sense of adventure to match her sense of humor that we will all miss.
Penny was preceded in death by her father and mother Loren and Eleanor and her ex-husband, Tom. She is survived by her sister Julie Tormohlen, son and daughter Troy and Tory and by a grandson, Ryan. Services are scheduled for 4PM Sunday, June 26th at Grace Church, 403 10th Ave. S, Nampa, ID with a reception to follow and mom's favorite treat-cinnamon rolls. Penny wished to be cremated and there is no viewing scheduled. She loved flowers of all types so please bring a garden bloom to leave with her.
The family encourages donations to Grace Episcopal Church in Nampa who supported our mom throughout her life. Donations can be made online at http://www.faithstreet.com/church/grace-episcopal-church-nampa-id-1 .
