Ralph Swaim Obituary
Ralph Joseph Swaim
October 26, 1935 - May 23, 2018
Ralph Joseph Swaim, 82, of Nampa, entered into heaven peacefully at home on May 23, 2018.
He leaves his son Kevin (Paige) Swaim; son Ken (Linda) Swaim; daughter Melissa (Scott) Stiewig, as well as 5 grandchildren; and sister, Maxine Clarno. He was preceded in death by wife Faye and daughter Kelly.
He was born in New Bern, Iowa, son of the Rev. Hall and Verlyn Swaim. He raised his family mostly in Fresno, CA. In retirement he moved to Spokane, WA to be near Kevin and family and then in 2009 to Nampa, ID to be near Ken and family.
He attended Pasadena College (Nazarene) and then attended barber college. He was set-up on a blind-date, where he met the love of his life, Faye Starnes. They were married from September 1, 1963 until her death in January of 2012. His career was in the barbering business, both as the owner of Moler Barber College in Fresno and as the owner of several barber shops throughout the years. Also, he served the military by cutting hair at Naval Air Station Lemoore, in Lemoore, CA, as well as serving in various other situations with his barbering skills.
Ralph was a life-long member of the Church of the Nazarene and was very proud of that heritage. His greatest desire, year after year, was to play Santa Claus! He visited Fresno Children's Hospital on Christmas Eves, and did home visits for friends. He loved to fish whether with his sons, grandkids, friends or alone, it always made him happy. We know he is rejoicing in heaven, enjoying fishing, Cracker Barrels and Gospel Music.
A private memorial will be celebrated. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Point Loma Nazarene University Hospice University Advancement 3900 Lomaland Drive, San Diego, CA 92106 (619) 849-2302 (ask about scholarships that will support kids in need!) OR: Treasure Valley Hospice, 8 6th St. North, Nampa, Idaho 83687 (208) 467-7423. Cremation rites have been accorded through Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Avenue South, Nampa, Idaho 83651.
