Ramiro R. Reyes
October 29, 1929 - July 20, 2015
Ramiro R. Reyes, 85 of Caldwell, formerly of Wilder, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 20, 2015.
He was born on October 29, 1929 in Santa Rosa, TX to Pedro Reyes Casanova and Soledad Rodriguez Blanco. In 1933 he moved to Linares Nuevo Leon, Mexico and returned to the U.S. in 1942 where he lived in Santa Maria, TX and settled in La Feria, TX. In 1945 he then moved to Edinburg, TX. In August of 1947, he met the love of his life, Rebecca Hernandez Mesa. They dated for 4 years and in 1951 they were married. In 1954, Ramiro got converted to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1955, he moved his family to Idaho in search of work close to the City of Greenleaf. He worked on a farm for 2 years. Then in 1957, he was called to preach the gospel. He moved his family to La Puente, CA. to attend Bible School. In 1961, he graduated and moved to Wilder, ID. where he started the ministry. In 1962, he was ordained at the Conservative Baptist Church in Nyssa, OR. In 1962, he joined the American Sunday School Union which later became the American Missionary Fellowship. That same year he founded Iglesia Evangelica, a bi-lingual, bi-cultural church. He was active in the ministry until 1992 when he semi-retired. His ministry consisted of radio and jail ministry for 25 years. Since 1971, his ministry also included his annual trip to Mexico to assist with summer bible camp.
Ramiro was preceded in death by his mom and dad, wife, Rebecca, 3 brothers: Raul, Juan and Pedro Jr. Reyes, sister: Delores Duenez and grandson-in-law, Mautia Callender. He is survived by his children: Maria Carrillo, Guille (Daniel) Brown, Sylvia Reyes, Raquel (Juan) Reyes-Alvarez and Elias (Elia B.) Reyes. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, 20½ great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Guadalupe Rivera and many extended family members.
A viewing will be from 5-8 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the First Baptist Church (221 E. Linden, Caldwell). Interment will follow at the Wilder Cemetery, Wilder.
