Richard Lee Lovitt
March 27, 1939 - April 3rd, 2017
Richard Lee Lovitt, 78, passed away on April 3, 2017. He was born March 27, 1939 in Torrington Wyoming, the oldest of five children to Lee B and Clara Callaham Lovitt. He attended schools at Big Bend, Nyssa and Adrian, Oregon graduating in 1957. He joined the US Navy in June 1958 and was discharged July 1, 1988. He served on the USS Ogden, USS Goldborough, and West Pac. He was off shore during the Viet Nam War and retired as a Chief Petty Officer, CWO-4/w 4.
He is survived by his wife, Estrella, daughters; Laura, Valarie (Jeff), Julia and Rhonda, step children Jennifer, Rose Marie, Romart, Joseph, Dennis (Karen), Donato, and Donna Marie, brother Carl (Judy), sisters Mary (Jim), and Judy Lynn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, two infant sons and his wife Thelma.
A visitation and a time for sharing of memories and will be held at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Monday April 10, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a US Navy flag presentation. Richard requested that he be buried at sea since he spent so much time there.
