Richard E. Parrish, 85, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Monday January 12, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, ID. He was born March 23rd, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN to Lester Ray and Fern Ivy Parrish. He served as Corporal in the US Army where he met his first love Maria Ynes Chavez. They were married February 2, 1948 in El Paso, TX on roller skates. They lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana where six children were born.
Richard and Ynes joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1959. He spent the rest of his life exemplifying the savior by living the gospel and sharing it with those around him. He loved the savior and served faithfully in various callings including Branch President. Richard was always looking for ways to serve and bless others' lives.
He raised his family in Farmington, NM from 1965-1982. He and Ynes lived on the Navajo reservation in NM and AZ for several years before retiring to Fort Wayne IN. He lost his beloved wife Ynes Dec. 31, 1992. He rejoiced greatly in Ynes, the wife of his youth (Proverbs 5:18) and looked forward ever so much in seeing her again on the other side of the veil. After Ynes' passing he married and cared for Faye Hughes of Fort Wayne IN, after her passing he married Harriet Rigby Cole of Fort Wayne IN. After a prolonged illness Harriet passed away. He met Mary Jeanne Jenness in Sandy, UT and they were soon married. He has lived the past 3 years in Nampa, ID with his wife Mary Jeanne Jenness.
Survivors include; wife Mary Jeanne of Nampa, ID, Son, Robert (Mary) Parrish of Hawaii, daughter, Penny (Ken) Onstott of Sandy, UT, son, Gene (Judy) Parrish of Provo, UT, son, Lester (Yvonne) Parrish of Saranac Lake, NY, son Boyd (Sheralyn) Parrish of Nampa, ID, son, Louis (Jacki) Parrish of Sandy, UT, 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday January 19, 2015 at Zeyers Funeral Home. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 with the services at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Fort Wayne, IN.
