Robert David McCann, 66, of Nampa passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at a local hospital. He was born in Portland, OR and was adopted into the loving family of Mac and Lillian McCann with older brother Tom. He grew up playing on the "Forty Acres Woods"- climbing trees, shooting BB guns, and gathering eggs on the family egg ranch. After his father passed away, and his mother remarried, the family moved to Nampa where he lived the rest of his life. Robert attended West Junior High, and Nampa High Schools. In school he was very active in sports and mischief. After graduating in 1967, he served his country in the U.S. Army. While in the service he married his high school sweetheart, Jolene Henkel, and they later had daughters Lisa (Escobar), and Chris (Fuller). After serving in the Army he worked as a Police Officer for the city of Nampa for seven years, and later worked for 30 + years for Motive Power Inc. until he retired. Robert was very involved with Adult Softball- playing, coaching and managing. The whole family would travel with him to various places for games. As an avid big game hunter, he hunted and camped as much as he could. Having graduated later in life from TUCC and BSU, he was a strong BSU football fan, as well as a Denver Bronco fan. Eleven years ago he married the love of his life Melody Gossard. Robert is survived by his wife; his daughters Lisa (Jamie) and Chris (Lonnie); his brother Tom (Karen) McCann of Denver; grandsons: David (Lexi), Matthew and Michael; granddaughters Marisa (Carlos) and Juanita Escobar; step-sons: Dan Gossard, Matt (Patie) Gossard, and Mason Valverde; step-daughter Miriah Valverde.
