Roberta Z Svendsen
April 18, 1932 - April 5, 2015
Roberta Z Svendsen passed away Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born April 18, 1932, in Rising Star, TX, to Hilda J (Miller) and Robert F Lamb. Roberta was the 3rd of 5 children who grew up during the Depression and War years. Spending most of her youth in Texas, the family moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where she graduated high school early.
The family moved to Caldwell, ID, in 1949, where Roberta attended the College of Idaho at age 16. She met and married Russell B Roberts and their family grew rapidly; Steven L., Teresa N., Charles J., Rendena K. and R. Scott arrived all between November 1951 and March 1958.
Roberta and Russell divorced, and Roberta married Charles (Jim) Crittenden in 1971. Roberta and Jim spent many years working and traveling, but their hearts were always with their grandchildren and their lots in Donnelly. They happily retired to Donnelly and built their first and second log homes from the plans Jim drew himself and the logs Roberta stripped and smoothed. Both homes stand today as a testament to their love and hard work.
Roberta was always busy. She sewed, crocheted, quilted, refinished, painted, drew, built and needlepointed so many items that are cherished by those she loved and who were lucky enough to receive her gifts from the heart. She loved to garden and many vegetables and flowers flourished under her care.
Jim passed away in March of 2002, and Roberta started over again. When friends convinced her to winter in Quartzite, AZ, she fully embraced the new adventure. She loved the rocks and the desert adventures as well as the dances and the jams. There she met another kindred spirit, and in January 2004, she married her husband, Eric Svendsen. Eric and Roberta traveled by car and motorhome to all 49 States, finishing off the 50 by visiting Hawaii twice. They enjoyed 9 wonderful, busy and loving years together.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Eric; sons, Steve (Kathy), Chuck (MaryEllen) and Scott (Tammy) Roberts and her daughter, Dena. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, numerous nieces, nephews, stepchildren, and those whom she made feel as if they were her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings, daughter Teresa, and granddaughter Tiffany J. Cobb. Private services pending.
