Roberta Pearl Witteman
May 19, 1929 - March 21, 2017
Roberta Pearl Witteman passed away on March 21, 2017. Roberta was born in Carleton, Nebraska on May 19, 1929 to Alton Wagers and Emma Beller. She was a colicky infant, and her family liked to tease her that without the tender care of her older brother Glenn, they would have tried to give her back!
As a young girl, her parents and younger brother John moved to Idaho to join her older brother Leonard, who was farming in Caldwell. Roberta had many fond memories of growing up on the family farm and always remained close with her three brothers.
Roberta met the love of her life, John A. Witteman in high school. After earning her teaching certificate at Lewis and Clark College, Roberta married her high school sweetheart on June 10, 1949 in Nampa. She settled down with her husband on the family farm and raised two children, John R and Kristy. She worked for the Scism School District for many years as a secretary and loved to write for the newspaper.
Roberta was a long-time member of Nampa First United Methodist Church. She participated in many church activities over the years, including knitting baby booties and creating other craft items for the annual church bazaar. She also served as the church historian and collected funds for church building improvements with her Little Church Fund. Her family will always remember her warm smile, her annual celebration of her 29th birthday, and the special care packages that she loved to send to her family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Linda Andrews for her loving care during Roberta's last years. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband John, and her brothers Leonard, Glenn and John. She leaves behind her son John R. Witteman (Linda Andrews), her daughter Kristy Blanksma (Jim), grandchildren Mary Martinez (Alonzo), Matthew Blanksma (Caitie), and Megan Judkins (Thad) and seven great-grandchildren.
We will celebrate John and Roberta Witteman's lives on at 12 pm, Saturday May 20, 2017, at Nampa First United Methodist Church, 2717 S 12th Ave. Rd., Nampa Idaho, 83686. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to the Little Church Fund, Nampa First United Methodist Church, 2717 S 12th Ave. Rd., Nampa Idaho, 83686.
Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, located in Mountain Home.
