Ronald Gene Crowe, Sr.
February 29, 1940 - May 20, 2015
His wife, Karen always said that Ron was a generous and kind man. He was fun loving and a perfect companion. He loved making her happy - putting up with all the Saturday morning yard sales and sharing his hat collection extra bedroom with her thousands of "trolls." He was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather and grandfather. He struggled for years with ever-worsening macular degeneration which affected his ability to drive. Ron was restored to a soul now free of pain as he died from complications of a heart attack at Mercy Hospital in Nampa. Born in Bakersfield, California, Ron, as a young boy, moved often, graduating from Melba High School in 1958. He finally settled at Eddy's Bread and delivered to the many areas of Idaho and Oregon. Ron made good friends there and was honored to retire a few years ago.
Ron married (later divorced) and had three sons of whom he was very proud. When they were young he often took them hunting and fishing. Karen Petzoldt came into his life years ago and they were married on June 10, 1986 in Reno. He was a truly wonderful caregiver during her many illnesses and struggles, and the family is so thankful that he had been there for her. She adored him. They had many shared moments of fun and excitement - traveling often to Jackpot, Reno, and Wendover to gamble. They enjoyed the Boise Horse Races, attending as often as possible.
With his marriage to Karen, Ron inherited a new set of children, and grandchildren, along with mother and father-in-law and other in-laws too many to list. Their home was stuffed to overflow with toys for every age and interest. There were many slumber parties with grandma and grandpa - staying up late, playing cards and games, and eating lots of goodies. They never missed the many birthday parties, sporting events, plays, or recitals.
Ron and Karen belonged to several card groups and played "Pinochle" and "Golf 9" with those friends and relatives at least once a month. These parties were welcomed as they always led to great memories. They attended Hope Lutheran Church in Eagle, as often as possible. The church community became very important to them. He was very grateful for the many prayers and visits by Pastor Mike Sager.
Ron is survived by two sons, Mitch Crowe (Mary) and Ronald Crowe, Jr; step-daughters, Nikki Trautman and Shannon Vogt; step-son, Shane Trautman; step-daughter, Jackie Bolz; and his grandchildren - Jade, Tyler, Jessica (Jon) and Matt (Megan) Crowe; step-grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Michelle Brown, Tanner Vogt, Ashton Trautman, Berkley Urie, Katie Marie Trautman and Rebeka Cardenalli. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Bennett Evans (Jessica) and Emma Crowe (Matt.) He is preceded in death by a son, Les Crowe and his mother, Lee Richardson.
Services for Ron will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 331 North Linder Road, Eagle Idaho at 7:00 p.m. on June 29th.
