Ronald Jerry McDonnell
January 22, 1935 - February 20, 2017
Ronald J. McDonnell "Ron", 82, died on February 20, 2017. Ron was a middle child born to Lester and Edith McDonnell on January 22, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio. There were five siblings, Ted, Don, Bobby, Fred, and Billy. Imagine the mischief six boys got into, especially being Irish.
In 1971, Ron married Phyllis Taylor, moved to Marsing, Idaho, and together they continued to raise eight children. Mike (Carolyn) McDonnell, Peggy (Ralph) Hutchison, Ruthi Caba, Debbie (Dan) Davis, MariAnne Woodman, Gary McDonnell, and Amy Taylor. He loved his family and spending time with them was always of utmost importance. He loved all the new additions and always had "the more the merrier" attitude.
Ron worked in the auto body business for many years. He opened his first shop in Ohio and retired with a shop in Nampa. Working right alongside him was his beloved wife, Phyllis. He was a brilliant self-made business man and worked hard to make a name for himself.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, son Steve, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the American Legion Hall in Marsing. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell. Condolences can be given at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com.
