Roxie May Zaugg Youngberg passed away May 5, 2013, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Roxie was born May 10, 1918, in La Grande, Oregon, thirteenth child of Frederick and Emily Chadwick Zaugg. She married Evern O. Youngberg January 17, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Evern died October 7, 2004.
Roxie attended school in Mt. Glen and La Grande, Oregon, and at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah. She lived La Grande, Oregon, West Point, Utah, Taylorsville, Utah, Weiser, Idaho, where she raised her family and worked on the farm, and most recently with her daughter in Middleton, Idaho. An active lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in numerous callings, including ward organist, a mission with Evern in the Philippines Baguio Mission, and as a temple worker in the Boise Idaho Temple.
Everything in Roxie's life was about family. She crocheted an afghan for each child and grandchild. Roxie was famous for the pies she baked. Besides cooking, her hobbies included sewing, knitting, playing games, and camping with family.
Roxie is survived by her seven children: Lynn (Valerie) of Yorba Linda, California, Duane (Bonnie) presently serving as missionaries in Gilbert Islands, Connie (Reed) Moser of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Joanne (David) Walton of Orem, Utah, Vaughn (Janet) of Weiser, Idaho, Mary Jean (Clark) Limb of Middleton, Idaho, and Michael (Lana) of Ketchikan, Alaska; 47 grandchildren and 113 great-grandchildren; she is also survived by one brother, Wilford Zaugg of West Point, Utah. She is preceded in death by her husband and by one grandson, Brent Youngberg.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 East Main in Weiser, Idaho, at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 11th. A viewing will precede the services at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com.
