Roy Joseph Roth, 90 of Caldwell, passed away at his home of natural causes on January 2, 2017. He was born at Graceville, Minnesota on October 7, 1926, the 6th of the 8 children of Roy H. and Mathilda Doll Roth. He was raised on a farm at Dumont, Minnesota. He attended school until 8th grade when he went to work on their farm during the depression.
In 1945, the Roth family left the farm for California, settling in Van Nuys. Roy found work at Lockheed before he was drafted into the Army in 1950.
In 1952, Roy was honorably discharged and went back to work at Lockheed Missile Division. Roy met Sandy Snyder, a woman engineer at Lockheed, and in 1965 they were married. They lived and worked there on the Central California coast until 1977, when they moved to Caldwell where Sandy had grown up. Roy went to work for United Cable Television until his retirement.
Roy is survived by his wife, Sandy of Caldwell; a sister, Adeline Oglesby of Newbury Park, CA; a sister and brother-in-law, Crystal and Hershey Bell of Newbury Park, CA; twin brother, Russell Roth of Thousand Oaks, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Carol Roth of Reno, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother, a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
The family would like to thank friends and neighbors for the many acts of kindness they have received. Our thanks also are to the caregivers and staff of Treasure Valley Hospice (especially Eileen and Karrie) for the care and kindness they gave to both Roy and Sandy.
