Ruth Y. Ames
October 26, 1925 - March 10, 2015
Ruth Y. Ames, 89, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at her home near Star, Idaho. Ruth was born in Yuma, Colorado on October 26, 1925 to Clarence and Ella Young. She was born into a loving family which would eventually include five brothers and six sisters. In 1938, Ruth's family moved to the Boise Valley.
In 1944 she married Jack Bolen. Together they raised two sons: Richard Bolen and Ronald Bolen. After her first marriage ended she married Paul Ames in 1972, a longtime farmer in the Star, Idaho area. They shared a wonderful marriage until Paul's untimely death in 1978.
Ruth is survived by her son, Richard Bolen, two grandchildren: Jeff Bolen, and Jennifer Jordan, two great grandchildren, Byron Jordan and Evan Jordan. Also surviving Ruth are her siblings: Harry Young, Wanda Wilmot, Norman Young and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her son Ronald in 2013.
Ruth worked as a clerk typist during the Second World War, a grocery checker, a trained taste tester for Simplot foods, and a homemaker. Her hobbies included gardening, needlepoint and other crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Castle Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5707 Castle Hill Drive, Boise, Idaho at 1:00 p.m. on Monday March 16, 2015. Light refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall after the memorial service. Interment was held at Star Cemetery, Star, ID under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Castle Hills Church of the Nazarene in memory of Ruth Ames. Condolences may be given at www.Flahifffuneralchapel
