Samuel Kingsford Sower
February 2, 1930 - January 30, 2017
Samuel Kingsford Sower was born February 2, 1930 and passed away January 30, 2017 at the age of 86. He was a good gracious man and a wonderful husband and father, a doting grandfather of seven wonderful grand children and several great grand children, many of whom living and being raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Sam is survived by two children, Carolyn "Carrie" L. Minson, of Caldwell and Nicholas B. Sower, of Carmichael, California, a suburb of Sacramento, California, and his wife Jane, of 62 years. They were married in Boise, Idaho on January 28, 1955, in the Wright Community Church. Both Sam and his wife graduated from The College of Idaho in 1956 and 1957.
Sam was a member of the Radio Amateur Club, an international organization radio for amateurs throughout the world. His call signs were WB7PFT, N7DOV, NB7K. The last call sign was an extra class.
Sam honored our country by participating in the Korean War. He was with the Fortieth Infantry Division. He served proudly from 1950-1953.
For many years, Sam was employed by Caldwell Memorial Hospital as a Medical Technologist, meeting a lot of people who had become life long friends and acquaintances, also, doctors and nurses through the years. He retired from the hospital labs and went to work setting up doctors labs, which he enjoyed very much.
As a personal note, I enjoyed being married to Sam. All our years together were the best, and I'll remember him all the years of eternity-forever and a day.
Memorials can be made to the Caldwell Senior Center.
