Scott Attebery Obituary
Scott Aaron Attebery
May 15, 2018 - July 6, 2018
Scott Aaron Attebery went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 6, 2018 at the age of 66. Scott always enjoyed simple pleasures: his collie dogs, feeding and working with cattle, baling hay, road trips, fishing, hunting, watching baseball, and listening to Christian radio and old classic country western music. He enjoyed his church family at Grace Baptist Church in Emmett.
Graveside services were held in Middleton, Idaho July 10 at 10:30 AM.
A Celebration service will be held Sunday, July 22, at 2:00 P.M. Potters Funeral Chapel, 228 E. Main St, Emmett, ID. Ice cream, orange, and root beer floats will be served in memory of Scott following the service.
He was born May 15, 1952 in Pendleton, Oregon to Donald E. Attebery and Carmen L. (McNeely) Attebery residents of Hermiston, Oregon. The family moved to LaCenter, Washington where Scott attended and graduated from the LaCenter Schools and participated in FFA with sheep as his project. He fished the Washougal and Lewis rivers for steelhead. He also fished in the ocean at the mouth of the Columbia River for salmon. His family loved to camp. When he got older he learned to hunt with his dad, and was a lifetime member of NRA. After graduating from high school in 1970 he attended Clark Community College and graduated with an associate's degree of Science. He then went to WSU where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Range Management in 1975. While in college he worked on fire crews. After graduation he worked for the Forest Service in New Meadows, Idaho on a temporary basis before taking a job with the BLM in Las Vegas, Nevada for a year as a range Conservationist. He returned to New Meadows a year later continuing the same position. In 1978 he hired Deana Attebery from Midvale for summer employment. They began dating and were married later that year. In 1979 they moved to Midvale, Idaho and took over her family's 160 acre dairy. This is where their two boys, Lucas and Matthew, were born. After 8 years they left the dairy and worked for a local rancher for the summer. He then took a job with Select Sires and the family moved to Middleton, Idaho. Scott continued his Select Sires job, while they raised some Quarter Horses, a few cattle, and farmed 20 acres. In 2006 Scott and Deana moved to Emmett, Idaho. Here they grew a small herd of Angus beef cattle all the while continuing his work in the A.I. industry.
In 2017, after 30 years of employment with Select Sires, he retired due to Lung Cancer. After more than 2½ years battling with the cancer he went home to join his heavenly family. Scott is survived by his wife Deana and son Matt (Becky) Attebery; his mother Carmen (McNeely) Attebery; sister Sandra (Attebery) Ferneding; Neice Kirsti (Daren) Hauswald; and nephew Daniel (Jordan) Ferneding. He is preceeded in death by his son Lucas Attebery and father Donald Attebery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship, P.O. Box 47, Nampa, ID 83653-0047.
