Thomas F. Hoey Jr.
Thomas F. Hoey Jr. passed away quietly on January 11, 2017. He was born on December 14, 1942 to Geneva and Thomas Hoey. He was raised in California and at the age of 18 he enlisted in the Air Force. After 20 years of service in the military, Tom retired and began working at the Social Security Administration. After 20 plus years as a civil service employee Tom retired in 2001.
He married his best friend Carole A Vandegrift in 1987. They were inseparable for 18 years.
Tom loved going camping, fishing and listening to country music. He enjoyed talking on his CB radio, taking nature photos, and racing his RC cars. Above all the time spent with his family was most important to him.
He is survived by his sister Marti Carr; sons: Chris Hoey (Vedelia), Don Vandegrift (Angela), Jeff Vandegrift; daughters: Karen Hoey, Suzy Hood (Tom), Angie Vandegrift; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Tom was strong, gentle, stubborn, kind, funny and loving. He was the voice of reason and wisdom in our family. He and his words will be greatly missed. There will be a small family gathering in place of funeral services. Final arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com.
