Thomas Ray Pennington
October 22, 1953 - June 22, 2017
Thomas Ray Pennington, 63 of Vale, Oregon, died on Thursday, June 22, 2017 surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 7th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchape.com
Tom was born October 22, 1953 in Caldwell, Idaho to Howard "Bud" and Teddy "Joan" (Campbell) Pennington. He was the 2nd of 5 children. Tom grew up in Notus working in the family grocery store (Bud's Market) often spending his summers working on the family farm in Parma. On November 5, 1971 Tom married Brinda Collins of Parma and had three children. Later in 1980, Tom had a fourth child with Judy Lewis of Payette, Idaho.
Tom was known as a Jack-of-all-Trades and could build just about anything. He loved gardening and sharing his vegetables with everyone, both friend and stranger. He had a passion for the outdoors, including looking for mushrooms (always protecting his "secret spots"), hunting, and especially fishing. Tom's idea of a perfect day was taking his grandkids to either fish or hunt birds along the Snake River.
Tom is survived by his children, Kenny (Tina) Pennington, Jeremy (Jennifer) Pennington, Kendra Pennington (Jeff Howard); his grandchildren, Lucas Pennington, Bradly Pennington, Carsen Pennington, Addisen Pennington, Johnathon Rutherford, Jordan Allender, Jayden Howard, and Kylie Howard. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Campbell; brother, John (Tina) Pennington; sister, Juanita (Russ) Klahr; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pam Kilbride, and son Jason Pennington.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Pioneer Place in Vale for their around-the-clock care, and for being so loving and compassionate.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to the St Alphonsus Cancer Care Nalen Fund, 1055 N. Curtis Rd. Boise, ID 83706-1352.
