Vada N. Martell
June 6, 1927 - May 19, 2015
Vada Norene Fulkerson Martell passed away to heaven at the age of 88 on May 19, 2015.
Vada was born June 6, 1927 to James J. Fulkerson and Olive Ambrose Fulkerson in Wendell, Idaho. Vada spent most of her childhood years in the communities of Jerome, Wendell, Hailey, Sun Valley, Fairfield and Ketchum, Idaho. After graduation, Vada moved to Caldwell where she met her husband, Jake R. Martell. They were married October 25, 1946 at the Middleton First Church of God. They resided in the communities of Middleton, Nampa, Caldwell and Greenleaf for their 68 years of marriage.
Jake & Vada had three children, Anita Martell Rumbaugh (Melvin Rumbaugh), James D. Martell (Sandra Martell), & Cheryl Martell Hardy (Bruce Hardy). They were blessed with 5 grandchildren, Jason Martell, Ashley Martell, Nicole Rumbaugh Bohner (Brian Bohner), Marly Hardy Snyder (Chris Snyder) and Abby Hardy Vo (John Vo). They also were proud to show off pictures of their 6 great-grandchildren, Zeek Martell, Analynn Bohner, Andrew Bohner, Bishop Hardy Snyder, Beckett Hardy Snyder and Ahijah Martell.
Her husband Jake, grandson Jason, and daughter Anita preceded Vada in death.
Vada had occupations with Canyon County and ASCS Agriculture office in Caldwell through 1970. She was the organist, pianist, and vocalist at the First Church of God in Nampa and Caldwell, as well as for the Oregon Trail Church of God in Caldwell for nearly 60 years. At any given weekend you might find her serving at church or for many area weddings & funerals. Vada's artistic talents also included ceramics, sewing & designing antique doll clothes, wedding apparel, children's clothing and quilting. Caring for animals and her garden always brought a smile to her day.
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Home-Sweet-Home and XL Hospice of Nampa for their loving care of Jake and Vada during these last few years.
Memorial services will be held at 20:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6th at the Oregon Trail Church of God, 23057 Old Hwy 30, Caldwell, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
We ask that you help us keep Vada's spirit alive in your garden by taking time to plant a purple iris or white rose with your loved ones to enjoy for many years to come.
