Vail Jay Williams
September 16, 1936 - March 1, 2017
Vail Jay Williams of Eagle ID, 80, peacefully passed away from cancer on 3/1/17 with his family. Born in Idaho Falls ID, to Eunice and Marvin Williams, Vail was raised on a farm in Cedron with siblings Reuel, Miriam, Marilyn and Fara. He loved the valley and enjoyed swimming and fishing in the river, and skiing behind their horse in the snow. In 1956 he enlisted in the US Navy, and chose to be stationed in Seattle WA as an Air Traffic Controller.
Vail was the former husband of Norene Hatch and very proud of their six daughters and husbands who have survived him; Joni Johnson, Tanja & Steve Wolf, Natalee & Dan Ulrich, Roslyn & Shawn Graham, Michelle & Michael Lakatos, Jessie & James Terry, and his 34 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Vail is also survived by his sisters; Miriam Hudson, Marilyn Gurney, and Fara Williams.
In Seattle, Vail became a craftsman who owned his own business for 60 years until he returned to Idaho in 2008. Over the years he also enjoyed remodeling projects, gardening, singing, dancing, playing guitar, reading, philosophizing, boating, hunting, and playing chess, cribbage, ping pong, and pool, In later years, he spent most of his time doing volunteer work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the orchards and in the Boise Temple. Vail enjoyed scripture study and left his family with a testimony of God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.
A viewing will be held 3/15/17 at 10am followed by a Singing Service at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 6711 W. Northview St., Boise ID. The Graveside Dedication will be 3/18/17 at 12:30pm, at the Victor Cemetery, 560 Victor Cemetery Rd., Victor ID. Services under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
