Verna Jean Carrico
October 16, 1924 - December 23, 2016
Verna Jean Carrico, 92, of Nampa, Id., and formerly of Gooding and Twin Falls, Id., passed away peacefully in her home at Sunnyridge Retirement facility December 23, 2016 after a long and happy life.
She was born October 16, 1924 in Gooding, Id. to Milton and Sally Roberts. She had three sisters, Eva Foster, Eddie Lou Scott and baby Mildred Roberts. She went to Gooding schools and graduated with the proud class of '42.
She married her childhood sweetheart Don Carrico May of '43. She had three children: Rick Carrico of Twin Falls (wife Janie Maltz Carrico), George Carrico of Fairfield and Gooding and Ted Carrico of Nampa (wife Becki Sinclair Carrico).
She was a member of the Christian Churches of Gooding, Twin Falls and Nampa. She was active and involved in the church choir as singer and director, and she worked with the teens. In Eastern Star she held many offices and she sang in Sweet Adeline's Barbershop groups. She worked in many businesses over the years including: the State School for the Deaf and Blind, the phone company, cook for the family restaurant (The Pastime), bookkeeper for the family sporting goods business and hardware store, bookkeeper for Carrico and Oakley Accounting and she was office manager and self-proclaimed Nurse or Physician's Assistant for Dr. Short (GP). She was also a salesperson for a hot tub company.
Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was given the affectionate name of "Bagu" by a great grandchild because she didn't like to say Great Grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, son George and her husband Don. She is survived by her sons Rick and Ted and their wives; brother in-law William "Bill" Oakley; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and on Friday, Dec. 30 from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at Demaray Funeral Service - Gooding Chapel.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding with Rev. Andy Morris officiating.
A celebration of Verna Jean's life will be held in the Spring when grandchildren and families are available and roads are safe for travel.
Verna Jean loved the Lord and those around her well!

Don and Verna Jean were very loved by my family. I am so grateful for the friendship they shared with my parents. I liked and admired Verna Jean, she was an inspiration to me. And I always had lots of fun working with you all at Soldier. So many memories. I Rejoice with you in her life I pray for you because you will miss her.
