Vernon "Duane" Tucker
December 26, 1925 - December 30, 2016
Duane, age 91 passed away peacefully on December 30, 2016 in the Treasure Valley. He was born in 1925 on a farm near Haviland, Kansas , son of Vernon and Ida Tucker. After attending school in Haviland, upon high school graduation Duane enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He returned to Cunningham, Kansas after serving in the military. There he opened a Mobil gas station. In 1949 while at work at the station he met the love of his life, Ruth Smith. After a short, whirlwind romance they were married in Melba, Idaho on December 26, 1949 (on Duane's birthday). Their marriage was an inspiration to all, they never spoke a cross word to each other. The picture of the two of them symbolizes how they were inseparable in life. Duane attended Boise State College and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in 1972. They moved to Howe, Idaho and both taught in a two room school. Ruth teaching grades 1 - 3, and Duane grades 4 - 6. From Howe, Id. They moved back to Nampa where they continued teaching in Marsing. Duane retired in 1989. Duane and his wife were involved in many church activities. They were active members at both Fairview Nazarene and Bethel Nazarene in Nampa for over the past 60 years.
His wife passed away in 2008 and now once again they are reunited in Heaven.
Duane is survived by his sister, Ardeth Scott from Kansas, Children, April Swonger (Lonnie) from Nampa, Kevin Tucker (Jane) from Boise, Sheldon Tucker (Jocille) from Oklahoma, many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed.
A Memorial service will be planned at a later date.
