Wilma "Susie" Crawford Enebo-Murphy
April 27, 1917 - April 26,2013
Wilma "Susie" Crawford Enebo-Murphy was born April 27, 1917 at Hartville, Missouri. to Charley J. and Ona Lea Critcher Crawford. She passed on April 26,2013, just 10 1/2 hours short of her 96th birthday, at a local care center under the care of hospice.
Susie graduated from Hartville High School and attended Southwest Missouri Teachers College in Springfield, Missouri. She started teaching all grades in a one room country school house. Among her duties were cleaning the room and making sure the fire was started before the kids arrived. She also taught in Willow Springs and Springfield.
Susie met and married Arthur S. Enebo while he was stationed at O'Reilly General Hospital, an army base nearby. He later transferred to Baxter General Hospital at Spokane, Washington army base. While they were there Susie worked at the hospital Post Exchange and also taught 5th grade.
Gene Arthur was born while they were in Spokane. After Art was discharged, the family moved to Portland, Oregon. Later they moved to Caldwell, Idaho where Rhonda Sue joined the family.
Susie taught one year in Wilder, then 23 years at Van Buren Elementary in Caldwell. She and Art retired & traveled extensively until Art's passing in 1992.
In 1995, Susie married Blake Murphy. They had 10 years together, traveling the US and to his Cascade cabin. Blake passed in 2005. Family was the most important thing in Susie's life. She was always up for a cup of coffee and a game of Pinochle. She always made sure that there was plenty of food, especially chocolate chip cookies by the dozens for any occasion, up until she moved to Autumn Winds Assisted Living in Caldwell in 2010.
Susie was preceded in death by her husbands, Art and Blake; her parents, C.J. & Ona; 2 sisters, Avis & Nellie; and two brothers, Omar & Lon.
Susie is survived by her son, Gene (Helen) Enebo; her daughter, Rhonda (Doug) Flaming; two grandsons, David (Lori) Enebo and Grant (Rachel) Flaming; and a granddaughter, Melissa Flaming. She also has five great-grandchildren Ray, Miranda, Bryce, Christopher and Avery Grace.
