Roy Lee Warren, Jr.
October 11, 1932 - October 7, 2012
Roy L. Warren of Olalla, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Bremerton Hospice Center, surrounded by his close family. Roy was born October 11, 1932 in Van Nuys, CA to Roy Lee Warren, Sr. and Dolly Warren. He grew up in the LA area and was active in choir during his High School years, once performing in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Roy graduated from Bishop High School after lettering in Football; he was additionally involved in the JROTC. Bishop High School is where Roy met his beautiful future bride, Mitzi G. Worthington. Roy and Mitzi married on November 10, 1951 in Yuma, AZ. and made their first home in Southern California. Roy went to work for the Union Pacific Rail Road before entering the US Army. He served in the Army for two years during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he returned to Union Pacific, working as a brakeman, earning the nickname "Step-in-Fetch It" which also "stuck" at home. He was a loyal and valued employee until retirement. The Warrens moved to Nampa, ID in 1969, purchasing a small acreage where they raised farm animals as a hobby. Roy was an avid gardener, planting large gardens each year. Roy also enjoyed woodworking, traveling in the motor home, drinking coffee, photography, listening and watching the Gaither's Homecoming Videos, as well as spending time with his family. Roy is survived by his wife of over 60 years, daughters; Frankye Pringle, Cindy (Dan) Aldous, Ginger (Chris) Rose, Carol Whitney, sister Janice M. Cordeiro and brother Gary (Carol) Warren. Furthermore, Roy is survived by grandchildren; April Richardson, Raygen (Stephen) Lipp, Daniel (Gracie) Aldous, Leeland (Nadi) Johnson, Patricia (Doug) Flippence, Jaime (Jeremy) Ericksen, and Nicholas Johnson. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Cornelison, and great-granddaughter Chyann Rae Dudley. A viewing will be held at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. So., Nampa on Thursday evening, October 11, 2012, from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with a brief graveside service to follow. Please sign the online guestbook at
