Vera Mae Brumbaugh
February 9, 1930 - January 1, 2013
Our mother, Vera Mae (Cox) Brumbaugh, has entered into her eternal life and is again holding hands with our dad. Vera passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at her home at Life Care Center in Boise of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Memories may be shared with the family at
Vera was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on February 9, 1930, the third of nine children, to Joe and Pearl Cox. The family was raised on a farm in Braggs, Oklahoma during the Great Depression and Mom always did her best learning to help care for her siblings and home.
In the summer of 1945, she had gone to the county fair and met a young man returning from WWII who became the love of her life being married to Loyal Brumbaugh on November 22, 1945. Vera was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was always tending to any other she could help. Mom always kept a beautiful garden full of fruits and vegetables and managed time to preserve some away for winter and share the bounty with family and friends. She was truly a master gardener, always growing a beautiful array of flowers for all to enjoy. She also enjoyed the outdoors spending time with family and friends hunting, fishing and camping.
Vera is survived by her seven children, Larry Brumbaugh (Susan), Billye-Miles Seale (Wayne), Judye Repenn (Roger), Dave Brumbaugh (Diane), Susan Coles (Jim), Martha Carrigan (Rob), and Lisa Sweet (Greg); 26 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill, Del, Ray and Homer Cox; her sister, Sue Ella Hanner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
We are grateful for our mother's life and thankful for the knowledge that she is at peace and with our dad. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
