Ethel M. Rife
December 30, 1915 - April 25, 2013
Ethel Martin Rife was born December 30, 1915 in Norwood, Missouri the second daughter of Willard Grant and Jessie Lawrey Martin. She came to Idaho wither parents at the age of 5 and made their home in the Midway community. They later moved to Driggs, Idaho and then returned to Nampa where she attended Nampa Elementary schools and graduated from Kuna High School. Ethel then attended Link's Business College. She worked at Dairyman's Creamery until 1942. She married Wayne R. Rife in /Visalia, California. Wayne was serving in the Air Force and they lived in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Utah and Alaska.
After Wayne's discharge from the Air Force they returned to Caldwell where she has since resided.
Faith Lutheran Church was being organized in 1954 and 1955 and she and Wayne were charter members.
Wayne died in a boating accident in McCall, Idaho on July 2, 1961.
Ethel is survived by sons, DeWayne M. (Joy) Rife of Caldwell and Richard D. (Chris) Rife of Salem, OR; a daughter, Jackie L. (Kenny) Strode of McCall, ID; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn and Ester and brothers, Roy, Bill and Joe Martin.

Memorial services for Ethel will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27th at Faith Lutheran Church. Private inurnment will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memories and condolences may be shared with her family in her online tribute at
