Steven B. Miller

Resident Santa Clara, Calif.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - We remember him for always putting his family first. Steve leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Linda (Rosales), daughter, Laura (Mike) grandchildren: Zachary and Nicole, daughter Lisa (Papetti) and sister, Lynn (Greg) and nieces, Sally and Mary.
Steve was born in San Gabriel, Calif., and early in life his family relocated to Menlo Park, where he grew up and graduated from Menlo Atherton High School. He volunteered for the U.S. Army and served as a military police officer including two tours in South Korea. He graduated from the Police Academy and became a patrolman for the Santa Clara Police Department, where he retired after serving 30 years.
He believed in the practice of community policing, even before a formal program existed. Steve enjoyed being a patrolman and spending time with the people on his "beat." Steve took pride in the fact that while working with the Santa Clara PD he helped local youth by spending time with them at area schools.
Steve had many things he enjoyed and was interested in throughout life. He developed a keen interest in World War II history, and visited several D-Day sites in Normandy, France, and other sites in Germany.
Steve had a real passion for cars, owning over 25 different models and the faster they were the more he liked them. Steve had a real talent for cooking and enjoying great meals, and may have been happiest when he fired up the grill and had a barbecue. He loved seafood and when the Dungeness crab were in season he would frequent the local fish markets to bring these special treats home for him and Linda to enjoy.
Steve possessed a gentle and dry sense of humor and could find something funny in most aspects of daily life. He had such wonderful facial expressions and let you know exactly what he was thinking without saying a word. He loved a little verbal sparing with family and friends from time to time, never afraid to express his opinion.
Special thanks to all his friends from the Santa Clara PD that kept him company these last month's, he truly enjoyed your visits.
Steve was a very loving, gentle and selfless man and will be sorely missed by his family and all those who love him. We tilt a Heineken in your honor and look forward to seeing you in heaven. We love you, Steve, and will forever miss you.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you." John 14:1-2
