Dora Valentine Obituary

Dora Mary Valentine
POCATELLO - Dora Mary Valentine, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 6, 2011, after a short illness.
She was born Dora Mary Picciano to Thomas and Antoinetta Picciano on July 30, 1926 in Pocatello, Idaho.
She married Bill Valentine on May 15, 1944.
Dora worked at the Idaho State University Bookstore for many years until she retired. She worked in textbook and special order purchases. Her out-of-town grandchildren remember how much fun it was to visit Grandma at the bookstore, as she would let them pick out whatever candy they wanted.
Her hobbies, activities, and favorite pastimes revolved around her family and many friends. Dora loved the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They loved staying in touch with her as well. She passed on the rich tradition of her Italian heritage to her family, which will be remembered for many generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and only sibling, Anthony A. Picciano. She is survived by her husband, Bill; and their four children, Tom (Sharon) Valentine, Toni (Phil) Kuder, Roxanne (Francis) Harlow, and Patrice Dahlin. Her grandchildren are Paul (Brenda), Justine, and Jamie (Monte Conyers) Valentine, Bill (Katie), Natale, Tom, and Christy (KC Anderson) Kuder, Chris (Sarah) Gunderson, Julie Gunderson, Gina and Morgan Dahlin. She also has a growing list of great-grandchildren.
At the end of her life, she was blessed to be surrounded by her loving family. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to St. Jude's Childrens's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Anthony Chapel, 504 N. Seventh Ave., Pocatello, with Father Chase Hasenoehrl, celebrant. Rosary service will be held today, April 9, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, where the family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com.

Our condolences to Dora's family on her passing. I remember her well and every time we went back to Pocatello for a visit we made it a point to visit her at the ISU bookstore. She was a wonderful lady.
