Colleen Ricks Wren Wood, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at a local health care facility surrounded by her family.
She was born November 28, 1934, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the daughter of Theron F. Wren and  Eltha Maria Ricks Wren.
She grew up in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School.  
She was married to Merlin Eugene Wood who preceded her in death on January 28, 2010.  She was an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Beard and Dr Clark. She later worked at St. Anthony's Hospital as a clerk and switchboard operator.  Her final job was helping run the City of Chubbuck assisted by Mayor John Cotant.
She enjoyed her family, doing crafts, needlework and quilts.  She has won many blue ribbons at the Eastern Idaho State Fair with her projects.
She is survived by one son, Marty Wood; two daughters, Darschelle (Chris) Chandler, Launali (Ray) Leo; and several grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her six brothers, Claude, Monte, Thead, Ward, Keith and Bobby Wren; three sisters, Mona Hamilton, Betty Gifford and Ilene Young; and a half sister Ruby Mattern.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 16, 2014, at the Hawker Funeral Home at 132 South Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot.  There will also be a viewing on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday for an hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Riverside Thomas Cemetery.  Condolences can be sent to the family online at
